A.W.A.K.E and Alive

Harness Your Mental and Physical Potential Through a Plant-Based Lifestyle

You can work on your body and still feel unsure of your direction. A.W.A.K.E and Alive brings strength, plant-based nourishment and personal reflection together, helping you connect what you do each day with the person you want to become.

The story behind the book

What are you getting stronger for?

Luke’s journey into health and fitness began with a childhood marked by illness, followed by years of searching for direction. Training changed his body. Becoming more conscious of his food, values and choices changed the meaning behind that work.

A.W.A.K.E and Alive invites you into that same conversation. Alongside Luke’s story, you will find practical ways to examine your beliefs, clarify what matters to you and start acting on it, in the gym, in the kitchen and in the wider world.

The five-step A.W.A.K.E method gives the journey a structure. Move through it at your own pace, taking the questions seriously and putting the exercises to use. Each section connects something you can reflect on with something you can change.

The A.W.A.K.E method

Five steps. A more conscious way to live.

  1. Awareness

Question familiar assumptions about food, fitness and the impact of your choices.

  2. Why

Explore your values and find a reason for change that means something to you.

  3. Action

Bring intention into your day through structured training and plant-based nourishment.

  4. Knowledge

Deepen your understanding of nutrition and the wider consequences of everyday decisions.

  5. Expression

Put your values into practice and make room for a life that feels authentically yours.

What you’ll find inside

  • Training you can put to work

Strength programmes, exercise guidance and ways to think about progress, whether you train at home or in a gym.

  • A more confident start with plant-based food

Recipes, meal ideas and guidance for making the transition gradually, with chapters exploring nutrition and nourishment.

  • Questions that go beneath the surface

Mindset exercises and reflections on self-image, values, purpose and the beliefs that shape your decisions.

  • Other voices, real experience

Interviews with plant-fuelled athletes and advocates, including bodybuilder Billy Simmonds, cricketer Peter Siddle and dietitians Jack Norris and Julieanna Heaver.

For anyone ready to live with more intention.

You may be curious about plant-based eating, ready to take your training more seriously, or feeling that the life you have built no longer reflects what matters to you. You do not need to have it all figured out, or already be vegan. Bring a willingness to question old habits and try something different.
