Asthma and anxiety?

You are about to deliver an important presentation..

You might be suffering from a mild asthma attack..

You just watched the news…

For a start, turn the TV off. This keeps you perpetually in a fight or flight state!

Breathing light and slow will activate your parasympathetic nervous system, it is the nervous system that will help calm you down and reduce your asthma symptoms. This practice will also help strengthen your baroreflex.

The baroreflex are little pressure receptors in all your major blood vessels. They are constantly detecting changes in blood pressure.

If the blood pressure increases, baroreceptors will send messages via the brain to the blood vessels to dilate which will result in blood pressure lowering.

However if your blood pressure decreases the baroreceptors should be sensitive enough to pick up the decrease in pressure and will then send messages via the brain to the blood vessels to constrict to bring up blood pressure.

The sensitivity of the baroreflex is a good indicator of the proper functioning of your autonomic nervous system.

Joining me for this 7 minute practice to stress less, breathe and live more..
